Mary Ann Chapis of Denton, Maryland died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at her home.

She was 90 years old.

Born January 28, 1920 in Decatur, Illinois, Mrs. Chapis was the daughter of the late Thomas Pando and Victoria Simon Pando. Her husband, Thomas George Chapis died August 4, 1990.

Mrs. Chapis was a homemaker and was a self employed barber along with her husband in Denton for many years. She was a member of the VFW Memorial Post 7937 Auxiliary and the Caroline American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary.

Mrs. Chapis is survived by one son, John G. Chapis and his wife Carol of Seaford, DE, four grandchildren: Stephanie Buchert and her husband Todd, Stephen Chapis and his wife Germaine, Lillian Conover and her husband Jeff, and Todd Devilbiss; and three great grandchildren: Colby Buchert, Alyse Buchert, and Kayla Conover. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Olivia Robinson, Clara Arvanitis, Christine Patrinellis; and a brother, Peter Pando.

A memorial service will be 1 PM Tuesday, July 13th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for friends to make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 1138 Parsons Road, Salisbury, MD 21801.
