James Walter Christy, of Havre de Grace, Maryland passed away on June 16, 2010 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, at age 70.

James Walter Christy was born November 1, 1939 in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Walter and Sarah Christy, he was the 8th of nine children.

James Walter Christy attended Havre de Grace Consolidated High School where he earned his Diploma in 1959. During his life he lived in Camden and Newark, New Jersey and Havre de grace, MD. He was the life of the party anywhere that he went. He loved to dress and dance. He also loved to fish. In 1996 he joined St. James A.M.E. Church in Havre de Grace, MD under the leadership and guidance of Rev. Franklin J. West.

James Walter Christy affectionately known to many of his friends and family as "JIM" is survived by one son, James W. Christy Jr.; four sisters, Mary Woodson, Havre de Grace, MD, Catherine Campbell, Detroit, MI, Frances Dorman, Havre de Grace, MD, Margaret Pauline Woods, Camden, NJ; one brother, Robert Christy, Havre de Grace, MD; one brother in law, Howard Jackson Jr.; three grandchildren James III of Killeen,TX, Chene Christy of Aberdeen, MD and Marquan Christy of Massachusetts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was TRULY LOVED.

James Walter Christy was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Marlene Jackson, Grace Christy and Viola Christy.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday June 22, 2010 at St. James A.M.E. Church, 615 Green Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be private.
