Rosellen L. Berger, formerly of Denton, MD, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at her home in Goldsboro, MD. She was 91 years old.
Born in Brentwood, MD in Prince George's County, on March 15, 1919, Mrs. Berger was the daughter of the late Raymond Clarence Cole and Rosa Lillian Speake Cole. Her husband, John Edward Berger, died January 24, 1981.
Mrs. Berger has lived in Caroline Co. since the early 1940's. She worked for many years with the County Record newspaper in Denton. She then worked as a Social Worker for the MD Department of Social Services, retiring in 1985. She is a member of the St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church, a past member of the Denton Women's Club, and a former volunteer and Board Member for the Caroline Hospice Foundation.
Mrs. Berger is survived by her son, John E. Berger, Jr. and his wife Delinia of Goldsboro; one brother, Robert "Bob" Cole of Palo Alto, CA; a sister, Lelia Brennan of Altamonte, FL; two granddaughters, Sharon Louise Hancock and Jennifer Rose Middleton; one step granddaughter, Lorrie Leigh Mitchell; a step grandson, Thomas Bennett, Jr.; and five great grandchildren: Michael Middleton, Justin Middleton, Alex Hancock, Julian Hancock, and Ashley Mitchell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Friday, June 18th, at the St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church on First St. in Denton. Friends may visit with the family from 10 until 10:45 before the service at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton. The interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery on Greensboro Road near Greensboro, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for friends to give memorial donations to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, PO Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
