Cook, Ida Catherine

Ida Catherine Cook of Ridgely, MD, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Homestead Manor in Denton, MD. She was 89 years old.

Born in Easton, Mrs. Cook was the daughter of the late James Hazel Callaway and Lula Victoria Callaway and was the step daughter of the late Lillian C. Callaway. She grew up in Queen Anne County, but moved to Caroline County when she married her husband, Kennard C. Cook, who died May 5, 1999. They had moved to Ridgely in 1944.

Mrs. Cook was a homemaker. But she had also worked at Salisbury Brothers in Ridgely from 1960 until 1982. She was a member of the Ridgely United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Cook is survived by two sons: Carl Cook and his wife, Gloria of Middletown, DE and Kennard Cook and his friend Brenda Gardner of Ridgely; two daughters: Vickie Dodd and her husband John H. Dodd, Jr. of Ridgely and Kay C. Wheatley and her husband Tommy of Federalsburg, MD; one brother, Hazel Callaway of Denton and a ½ sister, Lorraine Cook of Centreville, MD; 12 grandchildren: Katie Thomason, K.C. Cook, Vickie Thomas, Randy Dodd, Marsha Henry, Allyson Marine, Brad Dodd, Rachel Coleman, Jennifer Harvey, Megan Nichols, Douglas Cook and Scott Cook; 22 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, May 1st, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton, MD where friends may call from 1 until 2 before the service. The interment will be in the Ridgely Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for friends to send memorial donations to the Ridgely United Methodist Church, PO Box 424, Ridgely, MD 21660.
