CONYERS, Ga. - Shelley Lynn Berry, who was a wife, mother and Administrative Assistant for the South Coastal District of The Wesleyan Church, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at her home in Conyers, GA. She was 56.Shelley was involved in a very serious car accident on September 10, 2007 in Conyers. The accident left her significantly disabled but her fighting spirit remained. The past two and a half years was a daily battle for rehabilitation and independence. In recent days her health continued to decline.Shelley is the daughter of Robert and Pauline Miller of Croswell, Michigan who preceded her in death. Shelley has two sisters, Susan Green and Cheryl Barr both who live in Michigan. Shelley was saved under the influence of a godly grandmother (Mabel Miller) who took her to church. Rev. Elmer and JoAnne Drury were instrumental in her going to Christian college. Shelley was the first in her family to attend college.Shelley went on to graduate from the Cros-Lex High School in Croswell, MI, earn a B.S. from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, In., and a Masters of Christian Education from Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore Kentucky. Shelley also worked on a Masters from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.Later Shelley worked as the Dean of Women at United Wesleyan College of Allentown, Pa. While working in Allentown Shelley met her love - Dan A. Berry. They were married on May 20, 1980 at the Bethany Wesleyan Church in Cherryville, Pa. Shelley and Dan begin working in pastoral ministry in 1982 with The Wesleyan Church. They pastored in Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, and recently in Georgia. Recently, they worked in denominational service in New York and Georgia.Shelley was an outstanding student. Shelley was recognized as "Outstanding Young Women in America" in 1978 and later in 1983 Shelley was recognized as "Woman of The Year". She was also a member of the National Honor Society.Shelley and Dan have two boys; Jason Daniel Berry and Joshua Robert Berry. Jason is a campus pastor with 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, Ga. Joshua Robert Berry is a last year dental student in Indianapolis, In (University of Indiana). Shelley will long be known as a leader of women, a loving and capable mother and a wonderful wife and helpmeet to her husband as they labored in a life-time of Christian ministry. A viewing will take place for family and friends on Monday, March 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday, March 9th at 1:00 PM at the 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, GA. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the South Coastal Benevolent Fund, 1261 Parker Road, Conyers, GA 30019. There will be a Graveside Service at the Roxana Cemetery in Roxana, Delaware on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her homegoing.
