Lillie Eliza Boddy daughter of the late John Edward and Beulah Reed was born on July 26, 1929. She was the second youngest of seven children was raised in Perryman, Maryland. She was a life long resident of Harford County. She was the wife of the late Preston Vernon Boddy, Sr.
Lillie, who was affectionately known to family and friends "Mutsy" was called by her Heavenly Father to join her daughter Cheryl Boddy Carwell, on February 20, 2003, after a very brief illness at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
Lillie received her education at Perryman and Havre de Grace High School. Lillie was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was a member of the Senior Usher Board. Her greatest passion was her children and Bingo.
Lillie was a faithful employee. She worked at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, a long time employee at Perry Point Veterans Hospital Dietetic Department. After leaving Perry Point, for a brief time she stayed at home. She later returned to the work force in the early 1980's at he Board of Education as a custodian at the Havre de Grace Senior High School were she retired. In May of 1985, she was employed by the City of Havre de Grace and retired in July 2002.
She leaves to cherish and mourn; one sister, Elise Evans (who is 93 years young) of Havre de Grace, Maryland; six sons, Preston V. Boddy, Jr. (Darlene) of Aberdeen, Maryland, Bryant J. Boddy, Jr. (Bertha) of Aberdeen, Maryland, Nathaniel L. Grimes, Sr. of Aberdeen, Maryland, Stanley V. Grimes, Sr., (Bonnie) of Havre de Grace, Maryland, Jerome E. Grimes (Connie) of Aberdeen, Maryland and James W. Jenkins (Teri) of Baltimore, Maryland; two adopted sons, Jerry Waters of Havre de Grace, Maryland and Arnold Beard of Edgewood, Maryland; one daughter, Vanessa M. Grimes of Havre de Grace, Maryland and Cecelia H. Brown (Earnest) of Edgewood, Maryland; one loving son-in-law, John P. Carwell of Middletown, Delaware; Twenty-One Grandchildren and two Great Grandchild, Mackenzie Leigh Harris and Na'Kya Man Edwards, host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday February 27, 2003 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 520 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD where friends may call one hour prior. Friends may also call Wednesday February 26, 2003 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lisa Scott Funeral Home 552 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
