CAMDEN-WYOMING--Helen S. Whitby of Camden-Wyoming and Seaford died Thursday, December 6, 2001 in the Methodist Manor House, Seaford where she had lived for the past three years She was 98.
Mrs. Whitby was born on November 12, 1903 in Felton, Delaware, daughter of the late
Charley and Nora (Dawson) Shulties.
She was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1921 and graduated from Wesley Institute now known as Wesley College in Dover in 1923.
Mrs. Whitby enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She loved socializing with family and friends and playing the game of bridge.
She was a life member of the Wyoming-Camden Round Table Club, & a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover.
She is predeceased by her husband former Delaware Motor Vehicle Commissioner Russell W. Whitby in June 1987 and a daughter Correen June Whitby, a brother Harry Shulties and a sister Edna Marion.
She is survived by her son John "Jack" Whitby and his wife Audrey "Sandy" of Dover, one grandson John W.. Whitby, Jr. of Wyoming, four granddaughters Melanie Nichols of Dover, Jennifer W. Best of Dover, Laura W. Tonkay of Dover and Leslie W. Carlson of Clayton, a niece Evelyn Voshell of Dover, nine great grandsons and two great granddaughters.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
